Steve Hinchman

President and CEO

With 35 years of experience in upstream oil and gas, Steve founded Scala Energy to pursue his passion for technical excellence, leadership, and the disciplined exploitation of economic reservoirs. His approach blends executive intelligence with a technical edge and a tenacious focus on execution.

Prior to founding Scala Energy, Steve served as CEO of HighMount E&P, COO of Callon Petroleum and EVP of Marathon Oil Company. Steve currently serves as the vice chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), the largest national trade association representing independent oil and natural gas producers and service companies. Steve is also a member of the National Petroleum Council (NPC), an industry advisory body to the federal government on matters pertaining to oil and natural gas and the oil and natural gas industries.

Steve holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State University and a M.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

Allen May

Executive Vice President Business Development/Exploration

A veteran of the upstream industry, with nearly 40 years of experience in exploration, operations management, and business development, Allen is a growth-oriented senior executive with a passion for combining the acquisition of proven assets with exploration. Allen has managed all aspects of A&D activity, leading multi-disciplinary teams to find, evaluate, capture and exploit new resource opportunities through acquisition and exploration.

Most recently, Allen has served as VP of Business Development with HighMount E&P, Denali Oil & Gas and Samson Investments and has been focused on domestic unconventional plays since 2009.

Allen holds a B.S. degree in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Andy Lundy

Executive Vice President Commercial

Andy has nearly 20 years of experience in the energy sector and brings to Scala Energy a strong business acumen along with a broad experience spanning technical and non-technical functions. Andy is a demonstrated leader with the ability to ensure alignment of corporate functions with the company’s strategic goals.

Prior to Scala Energy, Andy served as VP of Corporate Services at HighMount E&P and as Director Human Resources with Dominion Exploration and Production.

Andy holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh, UK.

Dave Sneed

Vice President Asset Development

Dave has more than 25 years of upstream experience and is a proven senior management leader in subsurface disciplines. Dave leads multi-disciplinary teams with the ability to take assets from appraisal through development. An expert at performing regional rock characterizations to identify key economic drivers, Dave has lead characterization studies on more than 25 unconventional plays in the U.S. and Canada.

Prior to Scala Energy, Dave served as Director of Marathon Oil’s North American Exploration activities.

Dave holds a B.S. degree in Geology from Baylor University and a M.S. degree from Texas A&M University.

George Easterly

Finance Director Business Development

With nearly a decade of corporate finance and transactions experience focused on the E&P sector, George brings extensive experience and expertise in valuation, transaction execution, analyzing competitor activity, portfolio management, and financial analysis. George has spent the majority of his career focused on North American onshore unconventional assets, having most recently served as the head of the Competitive Intelligence team at Apache Corporation.

George holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Accountancy degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. George is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

Drew Limbacher

Manager Business Development

With nearly a decade in the E&P sector, Drew brings to Scala a broad base of expertise covering reservoir engineering, field operations, development planning, and business development. Prior to joining Scala, Drew served as a reservoir engineer at EnerVest following the sale of HighMount E&P to EnerVest in 2014.

Drew holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Cole Hierholzer

Land Manager Business Development

Cole brings to Scala several years of upstream land experience, having most recently served as a senior landman at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Cole has spent his career working in land and business development related roles focused on onshore North American unconventional plays, namely the Delaware Basin, Eagle Ford, and Haynesville.

Cole holds a B.B.A. degree in Energy Commerce from Texas Tech University and is a Registered Professional Landman.
